Big issue I'm finding is the amount of employees that do not list a salary for the job. I have wasted so much time applying going through interviews to find out it's near minimum wage for management level jobs. Wish Seek would fix this, or allow job seekers to boy cout these employees in our search results.

The median NZ wage is apparently around $1200 per week. How does your salary compare? And if you earn above that, I'm interested to hear how much and what your job is. The median Australian wage is apparently almost 2 grand per week. No one I know earns anywhere near that amount. What are you all doing to be earning that much?? Is there any realistic way the 'average' person can get close to that income?

Question for salaried workers: how much overtime do you do? I find myself at work until 7 or slightly later the 3 days I'm in the office. I don't seem to have any overtime or time in leiu policy in my contract. Is it required by law? I don't want to be working late all the time but I also don't want to lose my job. Is it normal to have to work late this much? I'm in marketing for a tech co.

Am I expecting too much? Looking for a new job and totally shocked at how low some salaries are compared to the job criteria and experience required. For someone with 8 years of experience (academic coordinator) roles are max. 80k! Considering the COL situation in NZ, how are people living on these wages?

Contractor rates. I applied for a part time job, got an interview, and revealed it's a contractor role. $29 to $35 hourly, listed in the job description, didn't mention contractor. What are everyone's thoughts regarding this contractor rate range? Even at $35 per hour; deducting tax, acc, leave, use of own car (petrol, travel, wear/tear) etc, would leave me with out of pocket and ripped off! Who would agree to work for this amount? They wouldn't negotiate on the rate. I've declined the role.

So I'm very disgruntled at work right now - long story short, we hired a new person in our team slightly junior to me and I found out they're getting paid around ~5k more. I know it's not that much more at the end of the day but wtf. How do I bring it up with my manager? I can't not say anything. Discussing salary is banned at my company so I'm not sure how to initially mention it. Tips? Advice?
