It’s relieving going through comments realising I’m not the only one going through the struggle of finding employment. In fields people are well over qualified to be working in. Do you think it’s the employers that are potentially intimidated by people’s CV knowing they can’t offer anything near that individuals $ worth? People are more inclined to stay on the benefit and not work. Kiwis especially have witnessed and lived through dramatic change within our own country.

How do people even get interviews these days? I've been unemployed for 18m, seriously searching for this whole year: 1 phone screening call, only 1 face to face interview in that time. Looking at anything not Hospitality/Fast Food/Retail, wanting a career or career progression. Is there nowhere looking to hire to train up, any more? Have restricted C1 DL, willing to get any & all endorsements once able/as needed. Willing to learn & have basic WFH setup ready to go too

Why do businesses lie? After an interview they say "we'll keep your application on file in case setting else pops up." Only after that, I see them advertising another position, apply, and then get rejected. So, why do employers lie to the interviewees just trying to find work?

Hi guys, I'd love to hear your experiences job hunting Christchurch. Have you found it hard/easy? What industry are you in? I've just moved here with family and haven't had much luck yet just looking in retail. Any advice?
