I’ve never seen the NZ job market this bad before!! People with real skills and experience are losing their jobs or stuck taking gig work just to pay the bills. Others are applying again and again, doing everything right, and still no replies at all..... We hear the market is getting better, but jobs are disappearing and the people still working are stretched thin. So is this just a hard phase we have to get through or is this the new normal here??

Some job listings are insulting.... They ask for experience, responsibility, sometimes managing people, handling customers, solving problems and then.... offer pay that’s barely above minimum wage. Are we supposed to laugh or cry?! Employers are counting on desperation, hoping someone will say yes because they have no choice. When did this become normal and why are we expected to just accept it?

Lately my manager has been sending me project summaries and briefs that have clearly been written by AI. Just overly wordy text full of bullet points, em dashes and AI-isms. While I get that it saves time and effort I hate that it takes the humanity out of work. Like I'm not worth communicating with as a human being. Is anyone else noticing AI creeping into everything?

Ive been applying for more than 200 jobs under 2 weeks. even added in notes i am willing to relocate for full time work and still no call backs. Advertisers demand skills and experience but dont end up using your skills or experience as they have their own system and ways of doing the job so i dont understand why they demand "must be experienced or skilled" when they end up training you different to your past work background. job hunting in NZ is such a struggle.

damn this is stressful. job hunting for ages & only been able to secure jobs through mates but I want something for myself! I try and try but nothing works I know I’m not the only one I’m just tired of struggling and acting like I’m good.

I need to vent. Why oh why do I need to input my CV sections into an online form? I spend hours writing and tailoring my CV only to click apply and be sent to a form where I need to cut and paste all the fields in manually. And it takes. so. long. It's like they design these systems to test our mental fortitude. I'm so tired of it all. Is there a short cut to this? Or I am doomed to cut and paste hours of my life away...

Trying to find a job when you’re a neuro divergent person is really hard. I wish I was given the opportunity to show you how awesome I am!! I care 1000 times more than the average person & im fiercely loyal. I want to work hard & be happy. I also need to fund my animals lifestyle.

Applying for a range of roles as looking to pivot, to get little to no feedback of how my application doesn’t suit or how could improve my applications for future when I have ample experience to match most applications is so frustrating. Replying to not successful emails to get the cold shoulder. Any advice? Recruiters, up your game please!

Big issue I'm finding is the amount of employees that do not list a salary for the job. I have wasted so much time applying going through interviews to find out it's near minimum wage for management level jobs. Wish Seek would fix this, or allow job seekers to boy cout these employees in our search results.
