Been job hunting for 6mths. Have applied for jobs I was qualified for, and not getting any traction. I’d make initial interviews, but fail at the 2nd stage. Job descriptions in the ads match exactly my skillset, yet no luck. I must interview poorly in person I guess…? Most of the roles I’ve applied for have had over 100+ applicants also apply so competition is extremely high. It’s getting frustrating. Am I the only one?

This is similar to what someone else said but it's a relief knowing I'm not the only person struggling to find work. I've applied at least 30 different jobs, got 1 interview out of all that, so far no work! Shocking. One of my mates has also been applying and they've applied to around 250 jobs and got nothing!😱 They currently volunteer at SPCA so at least they are getting experience. I've been on the benefit for 2 years now and really want to find a job to get off of it but nobody's hiring.

So much expectations. Im 21 and I’ve been looking for a full time job (i have a casual atm) but there’s just so much expectations. U have to have 3 years of this, 2 years of that. Im a great person who just wants to grow, wants to get paid good to survive, and be able to show up at work and not hate it all the time. Im good at talking to people, i love dressing up formal/casual, could do admin as well, anything, or even cleaning, im just keen.

I have completed my bachelor degree in hotel management where I learned basic to advance cooking skills, housekeeping, food and beverage serving. I love working in kitchen and worked in my home country Nepal. Currently, i have been working as a kitchen hand from last one year in Ponsonby, Auckland. I want to enhance my cooking skills to become a successful chef. I applied lots of jobs related to kitchen through seek but I am not getting any response. I am frustrated with applying new job😔

Hi, I need a reality check. I've been in my current role for 2 years and there's no sign of a promotion or decent raise on the horizon, so naturally I've been thinking about job hopping. BUT. NZ is currently in a jobs crisis or so it seems from reading this forum and seeing strikes etc. Can you share how things are things in your industry - what industry are you in and are things dire? Or is it only certain jobs/industries? Just wondering if it's all doom and gloom.
