I feel trapped in a low-paid service job with exhausting early starts and barely enough hours to survive. I tried studying to break out of it, now I can’t even afford to complete the course. It honestly feels like you need money to stop being broke… and I’m running out of energy trying. If anyone’s been through this and found a way out, I could really use some advice. What should I actually be doing next?

I left my job end of 2024 due to health reasons. Spent 6 months sorting it out and since been looking for a job. I'm in my early twenties. Yes the market is tough and I've applied for a number of jobs but now it's been suggested to me to do trial work for free to "earn trust". Is that reasonable? Does not having a job for over a year make me less reliable or trustworthy?

Ethical dilemma alert. A few years ago I employed an old friend in my team (first mistake), but it ended up not working out (underperforming). They left on their own account. Fast forward to now and they're asking me to be a reference. I do want them to help them get a job, but I don't want to lie. What should I do??

Should I go back to my old employer? A year go I left a job at a company I liked but where there wasn't any career progression. That company recently acquired another one and now my old boss has reached out with an offer for a more senior role. I like my current job, but I do miss the culture of the old place. The salaries are similar. what would you do? Hs anyone gone back to a former workplace who can share their experience?

My manager frequently assigns me minor administrative tasks that could easily be completed by her, yet she chooses to email them to me for completion when I return to work. Examples include printing a contractor list or saving contact numbers to the office phone. Is this considered normal management practice?

I am a US citizen who is very open to relocating to New Zealand. I would be thrilled to share my knowledge of Carpentry Instruction and building skills with the youth or with skilled trades professionals as a career. I would be a vital asset to any construction business as well. I have been in the trades for over 25 years. I am also and first a Christian who puts my future in the hands of God. I have a good paying job, but it’s pretty niche. I have basically reached my max potential there and want more - I’m only 29. The environment is pretty toxic, male dominated, I’m a woman. I’m looking to move cities for personal reasons but haven’t managed to find a job in my chosen city. I have a science degree in my field I work in and now considering quitting to study a masters. Is this a good decision? Has anyone done this?

Hello Everyone I’ve worked 2+ years in cybersecurity, mainly in SOC, threat hunting, and IR, using tools like Sentinel, Defender XDR, and Carbon Black. I hold SC-200 and Practical Ethical Hacking certs. I found that the ICT Security Specialist role is on NZ’s Tier 1 Green List, which supports residency and sponsorship. I’d love to hear from anyone in NZ cybersecurity about job demand, visa sponsorship, and tips on landing a role from abroad. Any advice or leads would be greatly appreciated!

Hi, I need a reality check. I've been in my current role for 2 years and there's no sign of a promotion or decent raise on the horizon, so naturally I've been thinking about job hopping. BUT. NZ is currently in a jobs crisis or so it seems from reading this forum and seeing strikes etc. Can you share how things are things in your industry - what industry are you in and are things dire? Or is it only certain jobs/industries? Just wondering if it's all doom and gloom.
