So Kiwis would pick purpose over pay… would we though?!
I love the idea of meaningful work, but a solid salary hits different. Be honest, what actually matters more to you?

I've picked meaningful initiatives over salary and unfortunately faced toxic workplace culture and egos in workplaces where the turnover was high.

I did pick purpose over pay and I regret it.
Working for an animal welfare organisation on the floor has been brilliant, but the rest has been nothing but egos and politics. I’d much rather go back to corporate where you are a number in a job that serves the business, with the customer facing roles that you can leave at work and go home to family.

No amount of money makes up for the worst jobs I've had. Absolutely no

Ultimately, the balance between purpose and pay is deeply personal. Those who advocate for honesty and integrity in the workplace often find that when organizations commit to transparency and ethical practices, employees can experience a richer, more fulfilling work life, even if the pay isn’t the highest.

Can't it be both? If a bunch of roles pay around the same amount, head to where you feel like it matters more to you. Where you work can have an impact, even if you're still being paid
