If you are struggling to find a job, you are not alone. It is tough right now and many are in the same boat. It is okay to feel frustrated, but try not to give up. If you can explain why it has been hard, that means you are thinking about it and that is a good start. Use that energy to take small steps forward. Shift your mindset, stay grateful, and keep trying. You have more in you than you think. Progress takes time and that is okay.

How am I meant to get an interview? I haven't been able to get interviews in my degree speciality, or a basic no experience job. I haven't worked for a while, so that doesn't help. I finished my degree and I am currently unemployed. I wish someone would give me a chance, I think I'd be a great employee.

Is it worth applying to job ads that have been up for several days? I see some jobs posted for up to a month - does that mean they haven't had enough suitable applications or do they just leave a job up for a set amount of time? I don't want to apply if there's no chance my resume will be seen. Obviously the best time to apply is straight away, but is it still worth applying to a week old job posting in your experience?

Everyone's talking about how terrible the job market is, I just want to know if anyone has any theories as to when it might get better? I've almost given up looking for a full time job and now just scour part time and casual listings until the job market improves - question is, when will it? (will it ever?) Any experts here that can weigh in?

I've just recently applied for an internal job where I currently work. I received an email from our HR stating that they have considered an external candidate for the kob. Their main concern is that anyone coming into the role should have strong sales and computer skills as this is a very admin-heavy position, I felt like I've been thrown under the bus after many years of being loyal and giving so much to my current role. I was disappointed and sad.

Why is it that for some jobs that I applied for on Seek, was for a completely different job title or role altogether? Is that not a form of misleading or false advertising and a reason to avoid joining that company? Then they have the cheek to conduct a phone interview and not move forward with your application as you don't meet the criteria - well yes I mistakenly thought that I was applying for a Team Lead role but now it has changed into a Manager position. Is that even legal?

Hey guys, it’s interesting reading your guys posts. I’m glad there is outlet for people or job Seekers. Most companies get 200+ applications per position sometimes upwards 500-1000 applications. Many job postings only offer casual or part time work 10 hrs with ability to pick up extra shifts. So in environment like this. Its crucial you focus on taking care of yourself i.e go to the gym lift weights, focus your nutrition, build connections stay positive. Any other self help tips add them

I am a student finishing up with my studies at the end of November. I have applied to so many jobs but have never heard anything back. The fear is that I won't get a job and enough hours that be able to pay my rent, and my current employer can't give me the hours I need......

Made a decision to quit my job in May this year. Fortunate to then get a three month contract with the most supportive organisation I’ve had the pleasure of working for. Sat with my TL to see if any possibility of something else after final day. She’s investigating the possibility as feedback has been positive. If it doesn’t happen, another role has come up with one of our clients and my TL, who knows the hiring manager, will give me a strong recommendation. Hope in a tough market.
