What does everyone here do for work and do you enjoy your job? I'll start: I'm a front office manager for a guesthouse in Queenstown and I LOVE what I do. The pay could be better 😅 ‍ but I love meeting people from around the world and obvioulsy living in an amazingly beautiful place.

I'm in a bit of an awkward situation. I started a new job a couple weeks ago, then was accepted for another job I applied for that is more in line with what I want to be doing. I'm still in the onboarding phase at my new job and thinking the sooner I leave, the better for both parties. In this case, is two weeks notice for resigning still the standard? Is there an HR person here that can advise?

I need advice about a team member who is underperforming (cafe staff). Absolutely everyone loves them - the other staff, our customers - but they frequently arrive late, leave early, and mess up orders. I've spoken to them about this, but their work is still sloppy. I’ve also talked about this with the owner and I have their support in whatever I choose to do. I like this person but they're causing me so much stress - what to do??

Hospo advice needed! I’m a hotel night auditor and I’ve been in my role for 2 years. We recently changed management and are now integrating teams and people are moving to other posts or getting redundancy. Next week I have a meeting with HR about my role and I’m not sure what to expect. If they offer me redundancy what should I do? Will it be easy enough to find another similar job? I would like to keep my job but I also wouldnt mind a lump sum! 😅

I'm a communications grad with around 9 months experience at a media agency that takes care of hotel and restaurant clients, doing some general PR work and assisting on campaigns. For anyone working in hotel comms: would I have a chance pivoting from this role to in-house comms for a hotel? Does anyone have experience joining an in-house team from an agency background? Interested to hear stories.

Hi there! I'm a bartender living in Melbourne and considering working in NZ this summer. What's the hospitality scene there like for seasonal workers? Do you think I'll be able to find casual work quite easily? I also have barista experience. All advice welcome!
