Do you reckon it’s possible to do 1 thing for passion and another for your career? I studied psych because I wanted to be more helpful in the advocacy space. But everyone always said I had a knack for comms, and sure enough I ended up in marketing :) Funny thing is, the psych stuff still helps heaps. Thought I had to pick one path to be happy.... but maybe that’s not true! Anyone else feel the same? 😬

Your psych background in marketing is a power combo..understanding people is marketing gold tbh. I've been at this for 12 years and honestly, weaving different interests together has made work way more fulfilling vs when I was trying to fit into a single box. Who says you have to choose between what you're good at and what you care about?! 😊

i studied fashion as i had always loved being creative .. i entered the industry for a few years after deciding it was more of a hobby. thankfully while working in fashion, i found myself helping them out with their ecomm site, which eventually lead me to my current job as product manager

Very few of us are lucky enough to do what we love as part of our job… maybe musicians, winemakers, artists are an exception! Until we find that magic job, i think continuing to find things that energise you outside of work should be something we’re as serious about as our “day job”, to live a full, thriving life. One of my mottos in life is, “having fun is a serious matter”. Parenting throws all of that out the window, of course 😅

I had a similar path at uni. Marketing is psychology. Those of us who do both understand consumers on a deeper level, being able to market to consumers and not at them.
