Truck Driver
I resigned from my job early this year due to health issues, but talking to boss, he said "when I get better, to come back and I'll have my job back, did all that and it was a "there's nothing at the moment, I was pissed off, I loved my job and was very experienced. I've used them as a reference in my c.v and I keep getting declined or they've (my old job) are giving bad reference to my trying to get another job...Not a happy person...

Hey Michelle. We're really sorry to hear it's been difficult to find somewhere new. If your gut is telling you that they are saying something that is hurting your chances, it might be worth trying without that one listed.
Employers do need to be careful when giving references though, and it's not okay to give a negative reference in retaliation to a worker leaving. That kind of unfair practice could lead to legal action.
