HELP I'm using chat gpt to write a cover leteer but it sounds obviously AI. I've googled cover letter examples and they all have the same formal, weird tone and AI phrasing. If you use chatgpt ,what are some prompts you use make it to sound more natural?

prospective employers look at 100,s of CV,s. keep it brief, lite. They don't want to read long winded pages of CV or cover letters. A little cheek or humour confuse the AI bots & hopefully leave employer wanting to know more or at least short list ya. There are formats other than AI that can help with both & advise as to what employers look for these days in a great CV/cover letter. Good Luck

It's basic. Be specific when asking chat gpt, then re-write in your own words, send it to chat gpt for help with editing and perfecting. Best way to write one is your own words with small help from ai or you can go online and there's a free trial for making resumes/CV as well as cover letters.

Don't use it to completely write the letter for you. Why would someone hire you when you can't even explain why you'd be a good fit for the role yourself? You can use it to help refine what you've written and check you haven't missed anything they're asking for in the ad.
Also, it can sometimes completely make things up. I asked it to write me a cover letter once based on the job ad, the position description, and my CV, and it wrote I had years of experience in an industry I absolutely do not!

use the examples and reword it to fit yourself, to be honest I haven't even made a cover letter I just don't add it on or if I have to I just write a brief summary of why I want the job

Never let chatgpt write the cover letter for you.. because all these things will go through ATS tracker and will get eliminated there.. Best is write your cover letter by yourself.. only depend on the chatgpt to polish it on the wording side .. but again once you get it polished again try to bring your personal touch in it.

You have to use the same language it's using in the advert. So if it's asking for an Inventory Manager, you wouldn't have "Store Manager" in your cv. Ai will skim through and not see many matches so will put it a category of low probability fit for the role.
