Currently applying for jobs and need advice on using AI for my CV - which is best for helping me tailor my CV and cover letter to each job? I was using chatgpt but lately it hasn't been giving as many free prompts and the output isn't as reliable. Does anyone use copilot? I'm also open to paying as long as it's not too expensive. Any recommendations?

I might be a bit old school but I'm not the biggest fan of using AI for CV's/cover letters. Reason being is that I think you'll always be the best person to talk about what's unique about you. I prefer to start with a template and then respond myself to what the company is asking for in their ad. Just my opinion...If AI works for you then go for it.

Hey @Anon550185, I'd recommend using CoPilot if you use Microsoft program, or ChatGPT. You simply prompt what would you like to have in your cover letter, the tone, the style, the format and feed it with some information about you like what your strengths, skills, and experiences are in past roles and away you go. You can keep editing drafts until you are satisfied enough to edit and add your own touch, save and fire off the final draft.

Recruiters in NZ use ATS, short for Applicant Tracking System, like Workday, SmartRecruiters, and PageUp. It doesn’t read effort or creativity, it scans words. Fancy layouts and colours get ignored. Simple black text, clear roles, and relevant skills matter. To be honest, with the number of applicants, getting selected feels like winning the lotto.
