Foodstuffs Produce ( Buyer )
Reinventing my career path after a variety of roles after bringing up kids… wouldn’t change a second of family time, but it does cost now they are grown. I am a qualified journalist and writer, passionate about human rights and non-profit organisations but finding it difficult getting into current affairs (except freelance with no income or guarantee of income) or anything human rights. Anyone else here want to do something that makes a difference, that matters(?) but can’t find a foothold?

I think I'd like to make a difference but I'm a bit too comfortable where I am. 😂😂 My only other advice with those skills would be to look into digital marketing, social media, content development and that kind of thing. You'd smash it having been a journo and I'm pretty sure there would be some roles in the NFP space. Sorry if you've already thought of that!

Operations Manager
I’ve been looking in these spaces for 8 years.
I have a Master in Public Policy, a Bachelors in Business Management, 2 more degrees from the US, and 20 years of work experience up to the C level in the US.
I have never once been offered a job in New Zealand. I’ve heard all the excuses. As a Māori born overseas who always wanted to come home, this is both embarrassing and profoundly betraying.

Seek had an article awhile ago about mothers returning to work. And talking about your time differently. Cause it wasn't time off.

Yeah as I've gotten older I've wanted to do more to make a difference. Some volunteer work here and there, but more and more looking at that day to day work and am I making someone wealthier or helping the things that matter

I've definitely done freelance or part time work (when I was younger) to change careers. Had no experience at all in something, but confident I could do the work. So I picked up part time work on weekends and after hours.
Maybe that's an in?
