Is anybody else actually really struggling getting a job? I’ve applied for so many! I’ve applied for jobs I’ve had experience in and job I’m over qualified for and 9 times out of 10 I don’t even get an interview. When I do get an interview I get told that I’m perfect for the job then I hear nothing for 2 weeks I reach out and they say they’ve filled the position or don’t even contact me back…

Might have to resort to the old school way with print outs of my CV and introduce face to face...

Supervisor
In my opinion, if you’re overqualified they won’t hire you because they’ll legally have to pay you what you’re worth. The employer is never sure if you - the overqualified, job seeker - aren’t going to ask them to pay you what you’re worth. You essentially become a liability to the company 💀 I would say try applying for a job without anything saying “Management,” “Supervisor,” or “HR” related things and see how that goes?

yes me aswell. I apply for jobs I'm qualified for or have experience doing and still nothing. I have even applied for basic labourer or shelf stacker jobs. the other frustrating thing is there is no communication from employers weather your successful or not. and it would be helpful to know why I have been declined for a position

Please refer to my CV
I am in the exact same situation. I thought after quitting my last toxic workplace I'd find a new better one much easier. Nope. Days turn to months and you just get so demoralised and unmotivated. It's so hard to put on a mask that you're happy or even satisfied with life at all in front of others when you aren't. It feels like I'm too busy being worried about how I'm going to eat through the week that I will mess up answering simple interview questions. Your not alone. This sucks. Truly.

Customer Service Support
In the same boat. In my region any customer service/admin/office jobs have hundreds apply and I often don’t even hear back on what I’ve applied for. I’m not even getting to an interview stage no matter how much I update my cv/cover letters. It’s becoming very disheartening and frustrating to not even get responses from companies who make you jump through hoops and register etc to put in an application.

An alternative is to band together with people with the right skills, and start a business, offering services. I'm exploring that for technology and business consulting services.

being an older worker is really against me. I've been applying for 75-100 jobs a month for 2 years now

Yeah it's tough rn 100%. Sounds like you're doing lots right so keep doing what you're doing and hopefully it's not too far away for you.

Administration Role
Me too. I've been applying for jobs solidly for 6 months - positions that I have the skills and experience for - and have managed to get only 1 interview in that time. I've changed up my CV and how I write cover letters but to no avail. I suspect part of the issue is my age may be working against me (I'm 50). I'm in Auckland - is this happening all over NZ? Good luck to everyone else out there. Something's got to come along soon!
