I'm in my fifties and was made redundant last year from my job of 30 years. It's really hard out there.
Unfortunately experience and loyalty don't seem to mean much these days.

I'm in my fifties too and have been looking for a year & half. Out of all that I've applied to I've only had 4x interviews. Its hard, upsetting & Insecurities start setting in. My fingers are crossed for you.

That kind of loyalty you'd think is a really good thing but I think the danger is that some employers will see that as settling down and maybe not being adaptable. My advice is to think about how you can show you did lots of different things over that time, especially highlight any sideways moves or promotions. Be really clear about any training and development you undertook etc. and try to demonstrate you're up for new challenges and want to learn new things.

I won’t pretend it’s super easy, but 25 years at one company says a lot about you. That kind of consistency and experience still counts, even if the market feels different now.
It might take some adjusting, but it’s definitely not impossible

I am a hiring manager and I love hiring people with more life experience. What I need to see is that your have ensured that your skills have stayed relevant. If not, I advise taking some courses to add to your CV.

Definitely hide your age on your CV and cover letter, they'll know you're 40+ from the job history but not the specifics. And when you get the interview, 25 years loyalty is a heck of a green flag

after 39yrs with the same employer I decided for a number of reasons to abruptly call it quits.Launching out into the labor market as a 57yr old male with skills very specific to a certain industry. Long story short i focused on what I like doing, gardening /lawncare and the like,as such I've landed a job as sole groundsman for a large nz company, focusing on one of my loves in life really helped me set my course forward. It wasnt plain sailing but it was sailing in a definite direction,it helps

Just ended 22 years in one company. My cv has two employers but I have worked consistently since my teens and now in my 50s.

It’s bad. I was at a role for 10 years at the most senior level possible in my org.
When I was made redundant during a merger, it effectively ended my career. 8 years later I am still looking for work.
