Has anyone ever received a job rejection by phone? Personally, after an interview, I prefer an email. It saves everyone time and allows candidates to process their emotions privately. Phone call rejections can cause unnecessary stress for applicants, even if it’s part of an organisation’s standard process. In my view, companies that still use this approach should reconsider. There are kinder and more considerate ways to communicate outcomes and feedback e.g. through emails.

Yes I have, I generally get the phone call for rejection rather than an email which I would definitely prefer an email over a phone call. I struggle to hold my emotions in after that initial part of the rejection and it is so embarrassing. The last one I had they called me just before 5pm on a Friday so they could tick it off and enjoy their weekend. I’d rather have feedback why I wasn’t successful and have it in writing so it’s less awkward for both people.

Yeah I'd rather not have a phone call unless they can provide interview or application feedback, are keeping me on file for future jobs, recommending other branches/division or anything useful. If it's just a "oh you are not hired thank you for applying" that can absolutely be done on email, it saves everyone's time and calling doesn't add any value to that message

trying to sound polite on the phone while your brain’s just going “ouch!!!” totally get that companies might want to be personal about it, but I agree..... an email gives people the space to process it properly. It doesn’t make it any less thoughtful, just a bit more considerate for the person on the other end~

Id prefer an email. Especially if i'm actively jobs seeking and applied for a few roles a week - nobody wants that many rejection calls. 🤦

Good that they even called, worst is they do not reply or email at all.

I would prefer a phone call so that I can ask what I can improve on.
