Just a reminder to everyone that’s out there looking for employment, I understand that employment in New Zealand is very tough and I hate it to. But just remember this that you don’t wanna give up on finding a job and honestly I once given up in looking for employment and honestly It took me years to find one. It started with me having no experience and I felt like a loser and that big honestly once I removed myself from that feeling I started volunteering and I gained the experience.

I 100% agree there's that yucky feeling when you feel like you need to justify yourself or something lol but life ended up well for me where opportunities came coz I just put myself out there even through a lot of rejection - I told myself Did I die though from trying?????? (inside maybe) jokes but yeah hate that feeling of being lost and not know - but keep backing yourself you are def your biggest hype person (be delulu) :)

I’m late 50’s and handed my resignation in May. It was a big decision at my age. I applied for several roles with no success. I wanted a change as I had taken a wine course and passed a basic exam in the subject a few years ago. I combined my logistics experience with the desire to be in the wine industry and gained a phone interview and a subsequent face to face. I secured the role. It’s a temp. role to cover a maternity leave, but hoping it’s a foot in the door. There is hope.

So real. That feeling of being stuck or like you’re not good enough is tough. I’ve definitely been there too. But it’s inspiring that you pushed through and found your way by starting small. Sometimes it’s not about the ‘perfect job’ but just taking a step to get back in the game.

To add: So you don’t wanna give up I highly suggest starting small and then growing the experience.

Congratulations on your milestone! It’s inspiring to hear that you’re pursuing something you’re truly passionate about. I’ve recently turned 60 and moved from France’s vineyards to Auckland’s suburbs - a big shift in mindset and environment. I’m focusing on short-term career opportunities and long-term fulfillment, aiming for my NZ pension. Adjusting without family nearby is challenging, but I’m staying resilient and embracing this new chapter. I can do this!
