Furniture and Homewares Design Consultant
I work in a retail showroom.
My manager has said that on Saturdays, we only take breaks if the showroom is quiet. If it’s busy, we’re expected to wait until it quietens down. They’ve also said they’re happy to pay an extra 30 minutes instead of giving the 30-minute meal break if it stays busy.
We close at 5:00pm, but we’re expected to stay a few minutes after to lock up and complete banking (e.g., 5:03pm). I have not been paid for any time worked after 5:00pm.
