National Events Manager
Been job hunting for 6mths. Have applied for jobs I was qualified for, and not getting any traction. I’d make initial interviews, but fail at the 2nd stage. Job descriptions in the ads match exactly my skillset, yet no luck. I must interview poorly in person I guess…? Most of the roles I’ve applied for have had over 100+ applicants also apply so competition is extremely high. It’s getting frustrating. Am I the only one?

Lots of us are seeing the same thing. Best advice is to not take it personally and keep trying. Good luck.

Definitely not the only one and getting interviews is a good sign you must be pretty close so keep trying. When things are competitive I try to think about what's going to make me stand out from others with similar skills. Doing a bit of research before can help you drop a few tidbits in the interview that show you've taken a real interest in them. Worth a shot maybe?

Today's standards, to get a job it will take a minimum of 300 applications. each application MUST have a cover letter that uses key words from the advertised job. Research the company, Research and practice interviews. If you keep failing look into getting your CV and Cover letters written by professionals. Work and Income can help with this.

Glad you're getting an interview. I've been applying for over 2 years and can't get a single interview, other than one recruitment screen to go see them so they can create a profile. Still yet to hear from them. Wish you the best though, you'll get there

I feel the same way. I’ve been through video calls and video interviews, but I prefer meeting people in person rather than over a video call or recorded clip.
