Ive been applying for more than 200 jobs under 2 weeks. even added in notes i am willing to relocate for full time work and still no call backs. Advertisers demand skills and experience but dont end up using your skills or experience as they have their own system and ways of doing the job so i dont understand why they demand "must be experienced or skilled" when they end up training you different to your past work background. job hunting in NZ is such a struggle.

So true Simone. Hang in there and something will come up. 200 applications is a whole lot. Are you only applying for jobs that are a really good match for your skills? Or are you trying to cast the net as far as you can?

In my opinion the wrong people are looking at our CVs its almost like they are looking for a unicorn most of the time. Even if you have worked for major corporates and would have received extensive sales training, it almost means nothing, if you haven't sold the specific product for that role they dont want to know you. Gone are the days where you came from top performing positions and can actually sell, apparently you would not know how to sell their product/s unless you have sold it before..

Not hearing back from anyone at all is so so annoying. Sounds like you're doing great putting applications in, best way to find something

Yes I’ve been applying for over 6 months now here in Australia and sure I’ve gotten interviews but never a yes you have the job! I had more offers for interviews and jobs before I made the move to Australia from New Zealand. I am just very lucky my partner got a job within a few weeks!

what I found is they employ their own people and that is a problem.

200 jobs is a huge amount! It might be worth picking a few you are really liking the look of, and spending some time tailoring the application. I dont even think I could manage 50 in a week tbh, theres just not enough work around :(

Definitely tougher now than it has been in the past I agree. I think at the moment companies are just getting so many applications that they add the skills and experience so they can keep numbers more reasonable. I've found though I can change the wording a bit on my skills and experience so it lines up better with what they're asking for specifically and that can help. Good luck!
