I’m 28 and work in workplace health and safety but I’ve totally hit a wall. I feel stuck and honestly have no clue what I want to do next. SO I have been looking at career coaches (Auckland), but they are waaay too expensive from what I’ve found (around $800 a session!!)

This is going to sound dumb but here's my process when I was making a change. I committed to thinking about 1 idea of what I could do every day and writing it down. Consider what you like, what you're good at, opportunities etc. When you hit a good one, you'll know - you won't be able to stop thinking about. Research that! But keep adding to the list. When you've got something you've researched, considered a few other options but still can't stop thinking about it, you're on the right track.

if you're facing financial constraints, hold that thought and put career coaches aside. Could you tell us more your main concern? Is it related to your salary/income? Another way around you can think of is speaking personally with your manager/boss. Tell them you look for promotion and willing to take on extra responsibilities. Avoid mentioning salary issues, just say you're looking forward to career progression. Discuss this to see if there's a growth potential there or not

don't spend money on career coaches. dig deep find your passions and that's your motivation to step out of your comfort zone take the steps to change career paths follow your true aspirations no matter what it takes. family friends will support you along the way. prospective employers will see you are chasing your dreams & respect you for it. challenges you face along the way can ve overcome with research, social networking and opportunities. Become proud of what you achieved.

I ask chatgpt to be my career coach, quite helpful and it's free! I did input with it the results of my Gallup Strengths finding test, and VIA Character analysis tests. Yay! Good luck. Also helpful input to chatgpt is help me find my ikigai.

Hi Jake, if your employer funds EAP sessions, check if your EAP provider offers career coaching. If they do, you could give that a try.

Winz offers free career counselling, don't need to be on benefit or unemployed to qualify. Not sure about the quality but if you just want someone to talk it out and help explore options it could be useful!

I have had someone sponsor a career coach for me (major blessing). I know how it feels to get stuck. I might be able to share with you what I learned through the people that helped me. Let me know if you want any help, it might be worth a shot. But you should know the market IS at an all time low so yeah... not your fault, it is just tough right now
