Hi, I need a reality check. I've been in my current role for 2 years and there's no sign of a promotion or decent raise on the horizon, so naturally I've been thinking about job hopping. BUT. NZ is currently in a jobs crisis or so it seems from reading this forum and seeing strikes etc. Can you share how things are things in your industry - what industry are you in and are things dire? Or is it only certain jobs/industries? Just wondering if it's all doom and gloom.

Data Science Intern
I’m trying to break into the IT industry. I previously worked in healthcare but the hours were horrific, especially when I was having a baby. So I gave that up and went and got an IT degree. I graduated in July and I’m looking to go back to work now, my son is five and started school, so it’s possible to do now. But I’ve been looking for about a year now (six months seriously) and I haven’t even had a reply from many of my applications, let alone an interview. I only found a volunteer job.

It's been a bit slow in my patch (MarComms) but still see some good ops come up from time to time. I've always thought it doesn't hurt to throw your hat into the ring...You can always decide to stay where you are if you're not sure about the offer.

Door Technician
Slow in the Commercial access system sector too, busy enough but once you look up you realise it’s busy enough to line the managements pockets.
As anon prior to me stated nothing wrong with throwing your resume out there and seeing what sticks.
Might end up finding a Diamond in the rough
