What if my career is actually over! Landing an interview alone feels IMPOSSIBLE...every role has a crowd of people, endless competition, and I’m terrified I’ll never get ahead. I’m trying so hard, but nothing’s landing. How is everyone even doing to get by?

I’m appreciative of company’s that reply on unsuccessful applications for jobs at least they make an effort to reply but yes it’s a struggle out there I’m also cold calling now first time that I’ve been unemployed at Xmas.

It really does feel impossible… I can’t even get an interview with jobs not requiring experience.

Tens of thousands of talented people are having a hard time getting work at the moment. You are not alone and it can feel as though you will never work again. Keep your good relationships and profile up. Know it’s absolutely not you at all it’s the economy.

Mixing up my CV and cover letter to find what's getting their attention. I'm just assuming anything I apply for and hear nothing I need to stand out a little more.

Hey, I hear ya. Feels like every role’s packed and getting an interview is near impossible. But hey, heaps of people are in the same boat. It’s rough, but you’ll get there!

Absolutely, same here. I applied for a job after being in an industry for over 20 years and didn't even get to the interview stage. crazy! I just think they had someone else in mind, it would be interesting to see what made the successful candidate stand out. I have now applied for an entry level role within the same industry, maybe that's the trick? fingers crossed. Good luck and don't give up.

All you can do is hang in there and trust the work you're putting in. That's all we can control. I've always believed in a less is more approach where I really focus in on the jobs I think I'm the best fit for and spend a bit more time on making sure my application stands out as much as possible. Not sure if that helps.
