Cashier
I am so stuck on what to do as I don't know what career I'm wanting to get into the past 10 years I have been in hospitality a little retail and I'm not passionate about it any more I then became a stay home mum and now I've started working in merchandising wich I am enjoying but unsure if I am able to make a career out of it I've been considering about getting into property management and doing study in that area.how did you decide what career you wante

It was a bit by trial and error for me Deana. Did some jobs I really didn't like and some that I liked parts of. I feel like it's ok to take a few left turns on the way to where you want to be. Were there parts of hospo/retail that you liked more than others?

I worked in Hospitality for 11 years throughout my late teens and twenties. I ensured I gained skills in other areas such as reception, cash office, cashier, gaming, ala carte, barista, bar and I wasn't afraid to move to different areas as opportunities arose. I too lost my passion and I worked in employment, now social services where I've been since leaving hospo. Find something you enjoy and what you can see yourself doing long-term. Then it's worthwhile investing - study wise

I was lucky as I always knew what I wanted to do (probably in the minority with that). My best advice is think about the sorts of things you're good at and enjoy doing...then work backwards to try and find the jobs where those skills are needed. Good luck!
