When transitioning from marketing to community management, I discovered my experience with data analysis and audience segmentation became surprisingly valuable in understanding engagement patterns and developing targeted programming. The pivot was smoother than anticipated because of these overlapping competencies. For those who've made a professional transition, which skills unexpectedly translated to your new field?

Interesting you say this! I spent a few years deep in the data - in sales & marketing analytics. I didn't really love it tbh, but it has been soooo valuable throughout my career. It's popped up as really important background knowledge in almost every job I've had. I wonder if we devalue some of those fundamental skills as we grow in our careers - but they're actually really important?
