What's it like to be a Sales Account Manager?
A Sales Account Manager is a professional who maintains and manages the relationship between a company and its clients. Their focus is client satisfaction by providing exceptional service, cross-selling and upselling, as well as securing new clients to increase company profits. As they regularly are a point of contact for clients, Sales Account Managers may find themselves problem solving and dealing with conflict resolution. Sales Account Managers often work in a range of industries like technology, pharmaceuticals and publishing.
Tasks and duties
- Managing and growing an assigned portfolio of clients to maintain a robust sales pipeline.
- Building and maintaining strong, long-lasting customer relationships with clients and key stakeholders within these organisations.
- Developing and executing strategic plans to meet or exceed sales targets and to expand a company’s customer base.
- Communicating and negotiating with clients at a high level within their organisation to secure business agreements.
- Presenting suitable products or services to meet clients' needs.
- Collaborating with sales team to understand customer requirements, to promote product sales and provide support.
- Constantly tracking sales metrics (eg quarterly sales results and annual forecasts) to identify areas for improvement.
