What's it like to be an Asset Manager?
Asset Managers manage investments on behalf of their clients with the aim of growing their clients' portfolios. Common responsibilities include researching and selecting investments, deciding when to buy or sell these investments, and regularly reviewing the portfolio's performance. They may work as independent consultants or as part of larger investment firms or banks. Although primarily office-based, the role can involve frequent meetings with clients, economists, fund managers and industry colleagues.
Tasks and duties
- Conducting evaluations on investments to determine the value and return on investment.
- Monitoring market trends and analysing data to make informed investment decisions.
- Developing and implementing asset management strategies to maximise investment profitability.
- Collaborating with financial analysts and accountants to monitor costs and evaluate financial performance of assets.
- Conducting risk assessments and establishing risk management protocols to prevent potential investment losses.
- Preparing reports to stakeholders detailing the performance and outlook of assets.
