What's it like to be a Warehouse Manager?
A Warehouse Manager oversees the operations of a warehouse or distribution centre. They coordinate the receipt, storage, distribution, and dispatch of goods, manage inventory, and ensure the safety and efficiency of warehouse operations. They may also supervise warehouse staff, oversee financial management, and coordinate with suppliers and transport companies.Tasks and duties
- Receiving and dispatching goods including loading and unloading shipping containers.
- Reconciling incoming and outgoing stock with requisitions and updating inventory and stock location records.
- Examining incoming and outgoing stock to ensure proper fulfilment.
- Liaising with staff, senior managers and suppliers.
- Establishing and managing ongoing processes for receiving, handling and storing goods.
- Ensuring Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) policies are followed and creating a safety-conscious workplace culture.
- Performing new team member training and inductions.
- Supervising warehouse environment.
- Operating forklifts and other machinery to pick and store stock when necessary.
- Preparing delivery schedules.
- Planning and coordinating stocktakes.
- Printing labels detailing storage and despatch information.
