What's it like to be a Field Service Technician?
A Field Service Technician is responsible for on-site installation, maintenance, and repair of a company's products or equipment. They typically travel to clients' locations to diagnose and fix any technical issues that cannot be solved remotely. Field Service Technicians may also need to explain the problem and solution to the client.Tasks and duties
- Meet with clients to understand what kind of service they require.
- Prepare quotes, invoices and receipts.
- Record service notes.
- Develop and maintain technical knowledge of products and equipment.
- Keep up with industry trends, and new products or services.
- Find opportunities to upsell and cross-sell.
- Acquire new clients.
- Order and install new parts.
- Collaborate with technical specialists when necessary.
