What's it like to be an Educator?
Educators impart knowledge and teach various subjects to students. They create curricula, develop lesson plans and assess students' performance regularly. Educators carry out their work in various settings such as primary and secondary schools, colleges and universities and in adult learning centres. They're also present in niche industries where they train or teach specific skills. Educators may work in public or private schools, universities, childcare, government organisations or community services.
Tasks and duties
- Developing curriculum and lesson plans in line with national education standards.
- Delivering lessons in a variety of formats to accommodate differing learning styles.
- Assessing student understanding and progress through grading assignments, tests and examinations.
- Providing regular feedback to students and parents regarding academic performance and progress.
- Addressing social, behavioural and academic issues by creating and implementing Individualised Education Plans (IEPs).
- Incorporating appropriate classroom management strategies to maintain a conducive learning environment.
- Participating in professional development and training sessions for continual growth and learning in the field of education.
