What's it like to be a Developer?
Developers, often referred to as Software Developers or Web Developers, are technological professionals who create and test computer software applications. Their responsibilities typically include writing code in various programming languages, debugging software and making improvements to existing software or systems. Developers may specialise in a specific area such as mobile app development, gaming development or e-commerce platforms. It's common for Developers to work in a variety of sectors such as technology companies, finance corporations and even educational institutions. They often work in teams alongside other Developers, Software Engineers and UX Designers, contributing their coding skills to the production of functional and efficient software solutions.
Tasks and duties
- Creating and designing software or applications as per required specifications.
- Determining operational feasibility by evaluating analysis, problem definition, requirements, solution development and proposed solutions.
- Collaborating with other developers and experts to determine optimal software solutions.
- Maintaining, expanding and updating existing software to improve performance or add new features.
- Documenting every aspect of an application or system as a reference for future maintenance and upgrades.
- Conducting system tests for security, performance and availability before deploying software.
