You've got mail! How employers are trying to contact you

Wouldn’t it be great if a prospective employer could contact you when the perfect job came up? A SEEK profile offers another way for candidates and employers to connect – meaning you can spend less time hunting for the perfect job, and more time refining and expanding your skill set for when that role comes along.

Here’s what you need to know about SEEK profile, and how prospective employers may contact you about that next brilliant opportunity.

  • How does a SEEK profile work? It’s simple. You use your profile to tell employers about your skills, experience and what you’re looking for in your next role. Employers can then view your profile and get in touch with roles suited to your experience. Even if you’re not actively searching for a new job right now, you can be contacted with job opportunities that interest you, and complement your needs, experience and interests.

  • What are the benefits of having a SEEK profile? SEEK profiles are designed to be relevant to people across all industries, making it easier for reputable employers to find ideal candidates, and then contact them for more information, with an invitation to apply for a current role, or by accessing their CV.

If your SEEK profile is up-to-date and loaded with relevant, easy to consume information, your chances of being shortlisted (and even hired!) are increased.

  • How will an employer contact me? There are three ways potential employers may reach out to connect with you after viewing your SEEK profile.

They’ll send you the job. Employers can send a link to their job ad to candidates they feel would be a great fit for the role they’re looking to fill. There’s no obligation to apply, but whatever action you decide to take, thank the employer for reaching out and recommending the role to you. It’s courteous, and will hold you in good stead should you want to reach out about other opportunities later.

They’ll send you a message. Employers can reach out to you with an email, detailing how available positions might be suited to you particularly, or asking for more information about your skills and experience. The information a prospective employer has access to is based on what’s included in your profile, or surfaced from the resume you uploaded and attached. So, don’t skimp on the details - show them your best side!

They’ll view your CV. Depending on your privacy settings, interested employers can view candidate resumes and start compiling a shortlist. This means that when they do contact you, they may offer you an interview to discuss the role without you needing you to go through the conventional application process.

While employers have three different ways of getting in touch with you, the privacy of your SEEK profile is always in your hands. Choose from three unique settings – Standard, Limited or Hidden – to ensure your details are only visible when you want them to be.

If your SEEK profile is up-to-date and loaded with relevant, easy to consume information, your chances of being shortlisted (and even hired!) are increased.
