Service Manager - Social Services

About the role

Are you a proactive, energetic and resilient manager, up to the challenge of leading the practice and operational management of a team of Social Workers and other social service professionals?  Then this could be the role you have been waiting for! 

Our dedicated team, based in Te Atatu, provide support to clients through a range of Barnardos Child and Family Services in Central Auckland,  North Shore and West Auckland regions.

The is a full-time role - 40 hours per week.

Skills and Experience

To be successful in this role you will need to be:

  • a strong communicator and strategic thinker, who likes variety and is flexible in your approach  
  • experienced at leading and managing a team, preferably in a social service environment
  • knowledgeable on the relevant current practice standards
  • have a sound understanding of the sector, including contract management and reporting
  • have a strong understanding of children's rights and issues and be passionate about working with children and families

You will also have:

  • a formal qualification in the social services field and relevant sector registration/ membership
  • previous experience in the not for profit or government sector
  • a sound knowledge of funder processes and systems
  • experience managing budgets
  • the proven ability to build and maintain successful, productive professional relationships with stakeholders
  • a current clean full driver's licence, and a willingness to make regular visits to our Auckland office
