Community Sport and Recreation Team Lead

Sport Waitakere is seeking a highly motivated individual to fill an exciting position that will lead the development and growth of community sport and physical activity across West Auckland. The primary focus is to lead a team that pro-actively engages with key stakeholders within our diverse community to understand their needs, and in turn co-designs and delivers opportunities that support their growth. The role is not your normal 9-5 job and sometimes you may be operating in the unknown, so if this full time, permanent opportunity excites you, please read on.


What you’ll bring:

  • Experience managing a team with a broad range of initiatives and projects
  • A deep understanding and empathy for community groups and organisations who support our diverse community and the challenges they face
  • A broad understanding of the NZ community sport system, Local Board and Council systems
  • Experience leading projects in an innovative and self-driven way
  • Experience in identifying and applying for external funding
  • Experience researching and writing reports for stakeholders
  • An ability to work hours when community sport organisations operate
