About the business and the role
Our Organisation
CYT (Catholic Youth Team) is a ministry to the young people of the Diocese of Christchurch.
Our Mission Team is a vital part of our Diocesan Youth Ministry. Up of 6 volunteer young adults live a year in community traveling around schools and parishes proclaiming the Gospel to Young people in the Diocese of Christchurch, New Zealand. They do this through their joyful and inspiring peer to peer ministry including school and parish retreats, as well as assisting with camps and other youth events.

The Role
This is part-time position - 15 hours per week
The key responsibilities of this role are:
- To Collaborate with other Mission Team Staff and Volunteers to provide pastoral care, spiritual guidance and practical advice for Mission Team members
- Work Collaboratively with the Mission Team coordinator to ensure Mission Team volunteers receive appropriate ongoing formation and training.
- Assist the Mission Team Coordinator with oversight and guidance of the Mission Team members in facilitation of their roles and the teams events.
- Assist with administrative requirements and colloborate on other Youth Ministry projects as time allows.

Job tasks and responsibilities

- Assist with administrative requirements and colloborate on other Youth Ministry projects as time allows.
Skills and experience
To be successful in applying for this role the applicant should demonstrate:
• Have experience in Mission Team style ministry.
• Experience in Youth Ministry training / formation
• Experience in providing leadership, pastoral care and formation with young people.
• An ability to relate to and communicate effectively with people of all ages
• An understanding and commitment to the Roman Catholic Faith
• Being a fun loving yet mature person with a passion for working with young people and their
families/whanau
• A current unrestricted driver's license.
• An ability to work collaboratively and effectively in a team environment.
• Tertiary qualification in Pastoral Care or Youth Ministry would be an advantage.
