Water Connections Supervisor

About the role

An exciting opportunity has arisen in our Water Connections department for a motivated Supervisor to join our team!

We are looking for a leader to take responsibility of projects and staff in a profitable and efficient manner, while ensuring that all work is undertaken in a legislatively compliant manner. In particular, we are looking for someone who can ensure the focus remains on safety, quality, cost and schedule in the planning and execution of the work. Core responsibilities will include:

  • Deal with sub-contractors and suppliers
  • Manage people effectively
  • Organise our existing plant equipment and labour to meet the needs of each project undertaken in this role
  • Pricing, tendering and securing new work
  • Manage projects on a day to day basis
  • Look after our valued customers and perform stakeholder management duties
  • Produce reports for the management team
  • Be committed to total quality management for each project undertaken
  • Maintain health and safety standards
  • Programming and scheduling of jobs
  • Ensure that crews are working efficiently and have the adequate training to carry out their tasks. 

Skills and Experience Required:

  • Prior experience in a similar role
  • Level 3 or 4 NZ National Water Reticulation Certificate
  • The ability to manage crews on the ground
  • Ability to manage projects and ensure all key deadlines are met
  • Strong interpersonal/customer service skills
  • Ability to process purchase orders and carry out budgeting responsibilities
  • Ability to choose the right tools/plant equipment/human resources for the work at hand
  • An appreciation for contract law and ability to interpret construction job specifications
  • Understanding of current HSE legislation
