Editor - Climate

Are you a first-class journalist who wants to drive incisive coverage of an epoch-defining story?

We are searching for an innovative Climate Editor to lead our climate change coverage for Stuff and our newspapers, including the Sunday Star-Times, the Dominion Post, and The Press.

Day-to-day, you will:

  • Lead our Quick! Save the Planet project
  • Manage a small team of dedicated reporters
  • Report your own articles
  • Commission and edit stories from staff members and contributors
  • Work collaboratively across the wider Stuff network

At a pivotal time for the climate crisis, this will be an influential role.

You will need a deep understanding of the science, politics and economics of climate change. Your strong experience reporting climate change and environmental issues will have taught you how to report complex topics in an engaging style. You'll have the creative drive to generate fresh ideas and novel storytelling formats, a thick contact book, and the ambition to lead world-class climate coverage.

Benefits of working with us include:

  • Joining a company with a strong social purpose
  • A culture that truly values diversity and inclusion
  • Generous parental leave provisions
  • A strong reward & recognition programme
  • Staff deals on home services with our ventures, energyclubnz and Stuff Fibre
  • Contributing to NZ's leading media organisation, which connects with more than 3 million Kiwis a month

Stuff is a collection of digital-first products and services that connect Kiwi communities to the stuff that matters, the stuff they love and the stuff that brings us together, every day. We are proud to be New Zealand's leading media organisation, connecting with over three million New Zealanders every month across our platforms.
