Specialist Support Staff

We are looking to employ a creative, resourceful individual to work alongside a young man who lives independently in his own home within the community.This collaborative role involves working closely with his family and circle of support to create pathways to achieving a typical life in the community through friendships, leisure activities and day activities.

THE IDEAL APPLICANTS WILL:

  • Have empathy and a passion to support people
  • Have excellent communication skills with a strong sense of humour
  • Be able to support independent living, social engagement (such as bowling, garage sales etc.) and work skills
  • Enjoy supporting a person with modern technology and can easily adapt with modern gadgets
  • Be able to support a person with his household (i.e. cooking, cleaning and online shopping)
  • Have an experience in risk management and safety planning (such as day adventures and holidays)
  • Have a good experience in motivating and providing quality support that builds on the strengths of the individual’s health and wellbeing
  • Have a great sense of integrity and common sense
  • Have a full New Zealand Drivers Licence

This is a part-time position, which will at times include shift times, weekdays, weekend and sleepover work. There is an opportunity to increase hours from this position.
