Marketing and Communications Coordinator

What would you do about the stuff that really matters?

Right now, we need people who can turn their thinking into solutions for the future of an even Greater Wellington.

There's a lot more to us than meets the eye. Here at Greater Wellington Regional Council, we're working on the big things that will impact everyone in our region. Ensuring we have uninterrupted access to drinking water, staying safe from the threat of flooding, protecting and enhancing the environment, improving the quality of our fresh water, ensuring we are all connected through our public transport network and planning ahead for the potential impact of climate change across our region. We're people who are genuinely passionate about the work we do, because what we do counts.

About the role

Our Catchment and Environment team need your support. We're looking for a savvy, proactive coordinator to join our Customer Engagement team and help us with vital customer-facing marketing and communications for the Catchment and Environment Department. We work in a fast-paced environment, and no two days are the same.

This role is three days/24 hours a week for six months. We're flexible about the hours you work so this could be a great opportunity for a marketing and communications graduate, or someone returning to the workforce.

You'll support the team with:

  • Arranging signage for our Parks and operational work
  • Public notices
  • Letters to the public and stakeholder groups
  • Web updates
  • Social media posts
  • Whatever else it takes to help the team run like a well-oiled machine.

A bit about you

You'll be a self-starter, who knows how to build relationships and isn't afraid to ask questions. You'll need great writing skills, a passion for the environment and a solid sense of humour. It's our job to keep the customer in mind at all times, and to ensure we're providing a joined-up service so clear communication is key.

Our benefits

We provide a diverse range of benefits including flexible working options that help our staff balance their own lifestyle and needs with their work commitments. We're also all about growing our people through professional development and experience across everything the council does.
