My client is a NZX listed entity operating in the industrial space, based in East Tamaki in Auckland. The business has over 1000 staff and has in excess of $500M in revenue with branches throughout the country. The business is an established business but is going through some positive changes and so does require agile people who enjoy working in an environment of change.

The Role

The role of Assistant accountant will report to the Group Financial Controller. You will be responsible for the following:

  • Assisting with the preparation of the monthly financial statements
  • Assisting with the annual audit and statutory accounts preparation
  • Reconciliation of Balance sheet Accounts
  • Preparation of GST, FBT, and PAYE returns
  • Calculation of deprecation and maintaining the fixed asset register
  • Assisting with the hedging and currency requirements of the business
  • Preparation of accruals and prepayments
  • Problem solving around any systems issues
  • Other ad hoc tasks as required.

Your Profile

To be considered for this role, we are looking for a strong Assistant Accountant who has a great foundation at this level. You can be someone working towards your qualifications (they are an ATE) or you could be someone who is QBE but with the right experience. What is most important in this role, is your attention to detail, your accuracy, your ability to get the nuts & bolts right and make the finance engine tick. You will have a common sense approach as well as and aptitude for problem solving. You must also have strong communication skills, both written & oral.
