Lonza is leading name in industrial pretreatment and surface protection of wood, and a trusted supplier for the world’s largest agricultural companies with a wide range of offerings, such as custom manufacturing of active ingredients and agrochemical intermediates.

Due to an internal appointment we are now seeking a QC Laboratory Manager to further grow your career within their dedicated team of technical staff.   You will be reporting through to the Head of Global Quality and will be accountable for the management of all aspects of their Quality Control function, ensuring efficient and accurate analysis and clearance of finished products and intermediates. Working in conjunction with the research team to investigate customer complaint samples, report findings and implement actions.

Working closely with the Site Manager to produce, implement and monitor improvements to methods and processes in support of the ‘right first time’ approach.  You will be assisting in new product up scaling focusing on plant capabilities, and implementing these new formulations into production.

Other key accountabilities in this position will include:
  • Managing the QC Laboratory and ensuring the efficient and accurate processing of production samples
  • The effective training, managing, mentoring and delegation of work to the QC Technicians (you will have 3 direct reports)
  • Assisting the Research/ Production Departments in the up scaling/ implementation of new products
  • Working with the Production Departments to develop/ enhance methods and systems to ensure product quality meets the necessary standards
  • Maintenance of ISO 9001:2000 certifications of the business by complying with processes and procedures within the QC Department
Having SAP experience would be desirable but if not then having good computer skills will be required so you can upskill with this system.

As this role has a critical part to play in the business it is preferred that you have at least 5-10 year’s experience in a similar role. A tertiary qualification is also required, preferably a degree in Chemistry or similar.
