Protective Security Officer

The Intelligence Community Shared Services (ICSS) is part of the New Zealand Intelligence Community.  ICSS are currently recruiting for a Protective Security Officer (PSO) to join the Protective Security Unit in Wellington.

We are looking for a highly motivated, team player to join our Wellington-based team. You will be required to work rostered shifts, including working outside business hours and weekends.

The PSO is responsible for providing high level protective security services, technical monitoring and support services, and incident response.  The role provides 24 hours protective security services via a range of security related functions and systems.

To be successful in the role you will need to be highly professional with a strong customer focus, have a positive ‘can do’ attitude, and the ability to communicate well across a wide range of people.  You will also possess the following qualities:

  • Security industry or equivalent experience
  • The ability to learn the technological skills required to operate security systems
  • Skilled in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • The ability to work with minimal supervision, and to use judgement and make good decisions under pressure
  • Good written and verbal communication skills, and good interpersonal skills to work as part of a team

A current first aid certificate and a valid clean full New Zealand Driver’s Licence are also required.

To be eligible for employment within the NZIC you must have been a NZ citizen for at least 10 years. Alternatively you must hold NZ Permanent Residence or hold a current NZ Residency Class Visa and have been a citizen of UK, USA, Canada or Australia for at least 10 years.

You must be able to obtain and maintain a high level security clearance. Ordinarily to obtain this level of clearance candidates must have a 15 year checkable background in countries where meaningful and reliable checks can be undertaken. Where requisite checks are unable to be made, the candidate application may not be able to be progressed.
