Project Manager

Our vision at Piritahi is to change the way people live. We can do this by laying the groundwork at scale and pace and looking after the communities we’re working in as we go.

Piritahi is an alliance of companies formed to speed up the supply of build-ready land. We prepare land for development and deliver new and upgraded infrastructure and amenity on behalf of Kāinga Ora - Homes and Communities. We are working in Auckland Housing Programme large-scale development areas where state-owned land is being better utilised for new, warm, dry, healthy homes.

Our responsibilities include detailed civil design and construction; the removal of old houses; land remediation; applying for consents related to earthworks and infrastructure; construction of roads, parks and utilities, and of course - looking after the communities we’re working in as we go.

Join us through one of our land development specialist partners Dempsey Wood and Hick Bros Civil Construction and be part of the team helping to solve Auckland’s housing challenges. With a scope of work spanning multiple urban environments across Auckland and an up-to 10-year programme of work, this is a rare opportunity to help change the way build-ready land is delivered in NZ. Surrounded by industry experts across both design and construction, a career at Piritahi is lined with incredible development opportunities.

As the Project Manager you will be responsible for delivery of several projects within an active neighbourhood. Due to the volume of various programmes of work we require someone who is an expert within the brown or greenfield land development space. An understanding of time, cost and delivery within an alliance model is important as you will be working closely with teams in design, construction, commercial and risk, and be supporting high quality community engagement standards and initiatives.

This is a unique role that will involve working across the alliance teams, client, stakeholders, industry partners and innovative bodies within the industry that have a passion for the future of Auckland.

The projects already underway include Roskill, Northcote, Oranga, Tamaki and Mangere with the intention for new neighbourhoods to start in 2020.

 Requirements:

  • A relevant tertiary level qualification within civil construction / engineering
  • Develop project plans in line with recognised project methodology principles and standards
  • Prepare and present job status reports
  • Provide regular risk assessments reports along with recommended solutions for senior management consideration and approval (where necessary)
  • Create and/or contribute to a detailed construction program. Monitor and update regularly
  • Interpret and advise on job designs, project plans, and assist project controls, including budgeting, scheduling, planning and risk
  • Develop workforce management plan, and plan for current and future work
  • Proven people management skills
  • Previous experience within the construction sector and understanding the dynamics of the industry
  • Ability to manage relationships with communities, client and other stakeholders
  • Ability to Manage on site teams and support teams as well as project outcomes.
  • Alignment of key results areas and KPI’s to meet alliance objectives and vision to deliver groundwork at scale and pace.
  • Working closely with Construction Manager / Area Manager to identify ideas to innovate and improve the delivery of the project.

The Piritahi head office is based in central Auckland however the role will be based on site, requiring some travel to and from head office and other project sites. We have a great company culture that is driven by our vision. We offer secured forward workload, career development and pathways into various areas of Engineering and Construction.
