Role description:

The main role of the Laboratory Technologist entails new analytical method development and writing standard operating procedures (SOPs). Additionally, you will be training operational staff on developed methods. You will also be troubleshooting and maintaining instruments in the laboratory. And finally you will be compiling laboratory test reports and attain KTP/signatory status, and sign out reports for clients so that those reports are sent in a timely way. 

Responsibilities will include:

  • Routine laboratory testing operations
  • Method development / R&D
  • General laboratory practices
  • Help keep laboratory consumables in adequate supply
  • Adhere to the company's health and safety policies and practices
  • Participate in company's performance and development programme 

This role will suit someone with the following background / experience / qualities:

  • Minimum 2 year diploma in science
  • 2-5 years experience in a commercial analytical laboratory
  • Knowledge of ISO17025 quality system and experience in method/process validation
  • Experience in ICPMS and/or experience in inorganics analytical chemistry
  • Experience in troubleshooting and technical support is preferable
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft word and excel are highly advantageous.
