Our client is seeking Utility Workers or Labourers required to join our East Tamaki team.

The role

We are looking for Labourers who enjoy working outdoors. You will join our teams who support our lines crews through a range of general labouring work, including trench digging, equipment and cable installation and moving of materials.

You will enjoy working outdoors, be capable of heavy lifting, digging, and other manual tasks. You must be flexible with working hours, happy to do overtime to ensure the team meets their deadlines. If you are reliable, have a safety-first attitude and looking for a stable work environment this role will suit you.

This role is a great introduction to the power contracting industry and can be a steppingstone into adult apprenticeships or other areas of the business for the right candidate.

All candidates will be required to undergo pre-employment medical, drug and alcohol testing.

Duties:

  • General labour work including trench digging, equipment and cable installation and movement of materials
  • Heavy lifting, digging, and other manual tasks
  • Hazard Identification
  • Identify underground obstructions
  • Ensure correct equipment available for task
  • Adherence to best practices

Skills and experience:

  • Previous experience in a similar 'labouring' role
  • Full New Zealand Class 1 and Class 2 driver's licence
  • New Zealand Class 4 licence (advantage)
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Physical fitness to be able to dig trenches and holes
  • An ability to use your own initiative with minimal supervision
  • Experience operating excavators and forklifts are an advantage, but not essential.
  • An excellent safety record
  • Compliance with health, safety, environmental and regulatory requirements
