Social Worker

About the role

Working in a residential environment can be both challenging and rewarding.  The role of a Social Worker is to care for youth on a daily basis and to assist them to engage in therapeutic interventions and support them in making positive changes in their lives.

Key responsibilities

  • Work with youth and their families utilising a range of social work skills and strategies
  • Ensure that individual plans are developed, managed and delivered for the youth
  • Engage with the youth during the school holidays to develop exciting activities

Skills and experience

Excellent communication skills, time management and strong conflict resolution skills are key for this role.  You'll also need resilience and flexibility, and the ability to build strong professional relationships with youth, their whanau/families and service providers.  Previous experience working in a residential facility would be highly desirable. 

To be successful in this role you will need to be: 

  • a holder of a recognised social work qualification (Bachelor or Diploma in Social Work)
  • SWRB registered or currently applying for registration
  • able to work positively, empowering our clients
  • knowledgeable and understand relevant legislation and regulations
  • knowledgeable of Tikanga Màori
  • familiar with social work case management frameworks
  • a holder of a current clear NZ driver's licence.
