Health Improvement Practitioner

Want to be an innovator in primary health care?

Pinnacle Midlands Health Network exists to get the best outcomes for people and their communities. We firmly believe that great primary care changes lives for the better.

We’re known for doing things a little differently to bring about change in the system – and that is where you fit in.

This new behavioral health consultant role was introduced to general practices in the Taupo/Turangi region in July to support the mental wellbeing of patients and we now require another full-time team member. Job sharing may be considered.

Health Improvement Practitioners, also known as HIPs, will work as members of the general practice team to deliver focused brief interventions for all groups.  If you are interested in a more holistic approach to health care delivery, then this could be the job for you!

As our HIP, you will;

  • work as a generalist seeing anyone of any age whose thoughts, feelings or behaviours are impacting on their health and wellbeing

  • see 8 – 10 people per 8 hour working day

  • participate in regular peer and cultural supervision sessions with others working in this role in Aotearoa NZ

  • work with the primary care team to build capability

This dynamic role reports to the local clinical manager and links into the broader extended care team.

We are looking for people who want to try something new and innovative in the mental health sector. Let us know about your experience and readiness for change.  Your orientation will include information on the Stepped Model of Care which is the basis for this new role.

Apply now if you are;

  • A registered health professional, with a current practicing certificate

  • Experienced working in mental health

  • Experienced in talking therapies

  • Familiar with patient management systems (IT)

  • Enjoys a fast-paced team environment

  • Committed to continuous improvement

  • Familiar with applying the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi

You’ll be joining a great work environment – collaborative, flexible and future-focused. Pinnacle Midlands Health Network is committed to making sure our people reach their professional goals.
