Sexual Abuse Prevention Network is seeking an experienced Youth Programme Coordinator to oversee the coordination of the Mates and Dates programme and to lead our team of casual educators. This role provides the successful applicant with the opportunity to work with the Youth Programme Manager to grow the delivery of the Mates and Dates programme throughout the Wellington region.   

The Sexual Abuse Prevention Network is a charitable trust that delivers education programmes, advocacy and advice to a wide range of groups and services. This includes healthy relationships and consent education for secondary schools and community groups and professional development, training and consultancy for a wide range of workplaces including the hospitality sector, government departments and businesses.   

The Sexual Abuse Prevention Network actively seeks a diverse applicant pool, with a variety of life experiences. An understanding of Te Āo Māori and Te Tiriti o Waitangi is particularly valuable.   

Responsibilities include:   

The coordination of the Mates and Dates programme   

Programme development and evaluation   

Leading our casual education team   

Build and maintain relationships with key partners and clients   

Programme Delivery – provide cover when staff are unable to facilitate   

Person Specification  

Well-developed analysis of sexual violence   

Understanding of heathy, unhealthy and abusive relationship dynamics   

Strong gender analysis and understanding of experiences of LGBTQIA* people  

Commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi   

Ability to work cross-culturally   

Group training or education experience  

Self-motivated and able to take initiative and work independently  

Experience working as part of or with community organisations, NGO sector and working within a community development framework  

At least 2 years' experience managing a team   

Confident user of Microsoft office programmes and Google apps   

Strong communication skills and ability to adapt communication style   

Full clean NZ driver's license or ability to have one within six months of commencing the role. 

Desired  

Qualification in education, social work, health promotion, public health, youth work or related area   

Previous experience delivering sexual violence primary prevention programmes, sexuality education or health promotion   

Skills to facilitate group discussions with people of diverse ages, cultures and backgrounds   

Experience in training or education   

Demonstrable experience of working collaboratively across a range of agencies including government and local government  

Access to own reliable vehicle  

   

This is a 32 hour a week permanent role. Hours of work will be within Monday-Friday 9.00am -3.00pm, though some will fall outside of this and some flexibility will be required from the successful applicant.  This role is based out of the SAPN office and will spend time at schools and with other groups, primarily in the Wellington Region. The role reports to the Youth Programme Manager and will receive regular internal and external supervision. Applicants will be subject to a New Zealand Police check.
