About the Company

InvoCare is a leading international provider of funeral, cemetery, crematoria and related services. Currently operating and a market leader in Australia, New Zealand and Singapore. We are listed on the ASX and operate 270 funeral locations and 16 cemeteries and crematoria all in competitive markets with over 1800 staff employed. All of the funeral homes in InvoCare’s international network are trusted names in their communities. They often have many decades of experience in meeting the needs of local families regardless of whether they are seeking a traditional funeral, a celebration of life or a practical and affordable funeral experience. Our name stems from our commitment to Innovation, Vocation and Care. We’re here to support our clients, their families and friends at a pivotal time in their lives. We do this by being compassionate, exceeding expectations and delivering outstanding service.

About the Role

You’ll be part of a new Procurement team based in our Corporate office in Shortland Street, Auckland. The Corporate Team support over 250 staff across 30 locations through New Zealand with a range of specialists. Reporting to the Procurement Team Leader you’ll be key in establishing the procurement function within a large Oracle ERP that is going live across our business. This fixed term contract will see you actively involved in the go live phase to ensure that locations and staff are well supported through the purchasing and procurement process. While your primary focus is to ensure the timely and accurate processing of purchase orders, you will also be building relationships with staff throughout the New Zealand business and our colleagues in the wider Finance team in Australia.

This is a fixed term position for 5 days / 40 hours per week starting immediately and finishing in 2020. While some purchasing / procurement experience will be useful, full training will be provided.

This could be a great opportunity if you’re interested in building some skills and adding some great experience in the procurement space given the training provided and the chance to help build and establish the function.

What you’ll be doing

  • Responsible for all of the New Zealand procurement / purchasing activities including raising purchase requisitions and purchase order processing.
  • Closely working with our Accounts Payable team to ensure that all payments are integrated and processed in line with the procurement process.
  • Following up and troubleshooting issues from variation reports.
  • Resolving any problems or bottlenecks in the process.
  • Communicating proactively with our location staff ensuring that they are well supported through the go live phase.
  • Actively involved in researching, analysing, following up and reporting on process or technical issues to ensure the smooth functioning of the procurement process.

Skills / Experience

  • You’ll be very comfortable and have great organisation skills for a high volume, transactional type role.
  • You’ll have great communication skills and be able to easily build good rapport and relationships over the phone with our location staff.
  • Experience with purchasing / procurement software or other large workflow based ERP’s will be an advantage, but at the very least, you’ll be tech savvy and at ease understanding how complex software works.
  • Your analysis and problem solving experience will be important to be effective at understanding and resolving issues.
  • The team will be co-located and collaborate very closely – this will need to be your preferred style of working.
