Guiding Opportunities - Stewart Island

Are you looking for a change of scenery this summer? This is your opportunity to work and live in one of the most beautiful places in New Zealand in one of two exciting new roles at Stewart Island Experience!

Driver / Nature Guide

This role will see you welcoming visitors to the island, taking them on sightseeing tours and ensuring their experience is remarkable. You will escort them on their adventures, providing exciting commentary and showing them everything you love about Stewart Island. When you’re not hosting guests and sharing your beautiful backyard, you’ll be helping in the visitor centre; providing information and selling trips. Holding a class 2 passenger endorsed license would be great, but it’s not essential as for the right person, we’ll help you to get one! You just need to hold a NZ Driver’s License.

Crew / Nature Guide

This role will see you assisting on our ferry crossings between Stewart Island and Bluff, providing an educational commentary and top kiwi hospitality! Working on our vessels is varied and challenging. As a part of the team you will be busy assisting passengers, serving food and drinks, delivering quality, accurate and informative commentary and also maintaining the cleanliness of the vessel at all times. You'll be involved in the loading and unloading of luggage and freight so it'll be important that you are fit and capable of heavy lifting and handling ships lines and enjoy being out on the water.

Both roles are full time, fixed term to help during our busy summer season.

In return, we offer subsidised accommodation, opportunities for development, the ability to experience our products with your family and friends for free and access discounts on products and experiences across the Wayfare Group (Go Orange, Cardrona, Canyon Food & Brew and the International Antarctic Centre).

So, if you are looking for a change of pace, and want the opportunity to host visitors in this breath-taking environment rich in flora, fauna and history, then being a part of this team is for you!
