Assistant Property Manager

At Everest, we are all about people. We work with our clients and candidates to build great relationships so we can match the right person for the right role.

Here's our latest opportunity!

The Company
Waikato Regional Airport Limited, also known as Hamilton Airport is the second busiest airport for flight movements in New Zealand. With a catchment of around 420,000 people, Hamilton Airport boasts the fourth-longest commercial runway in the country and provides travellers with a gateway to the central North Island.

As this company grows, its diverse portfolio includes not only Hamilton Airport itself, it now includes commercial property development, property investment, a farm and a hotel amongst its business streams.

The Role
Reporting to the Property Manager, this newly created role will support the property team to complete a wide range of property and facilities projects.  This includes the supervision and delivery of the capital works programme, managing the various properties in the Group portfolio and ensuring inspections and remedial works are carried out according to schedules.

Other key components of the role include working with key stakeholders and external contractors; overseeing compliance and consent processes; co-ordinating and complying with health and safety and risk management procedures; updating and administering property and maintenance records, and assisting the Property Manager to develop a management plan for individual properties within the portfolio.  It’s likely that no two days will be the same in this role!

The Person
Ideally, we’re looking for a level-headed person who has had around 5 years’ experience working in the commercial property or construction-related industries.  If you’ve been on the tools at some stage in your career and wanting a change in focus – this could be a great option for you.  Similarly, if you’ve worked in an aligned industry (e.g estimating, planning, resource management) and have a practical nature you could also be a good fit.   Most importantly, you will need to be a strong project co-ordinator who can take accountability for a range of tasks and see them through to completion.  An understanding of contract management, the RMA and NZ Building Act would be highly desirable.

You must have strong communication and relationship building skills, be capable of having hard conversations with contractors or tenants from time to time and know your way around a computer.  Much of the time you’ll need to be comfortable working autonomously, at ease taking direction and know what it takes to be a great team player!

Applications close 29 November 2019.
